PARTNERSHIP PROJECT
In the spring of 2020, the largest Russian hotel chain AZIMUT Hotels and the leader of the Russian oil and gas chemical industry SIBUR launched a joint environmental project "Plastic is not trash". The companies organized separate plastic collection and made cosmetics packaging fully recyclable. In 2023, the project reached a new stage of development: the AZIMUT Hotels chain switched to bottles made of Vivilen - polymer granules for packaging with recycled plastic from SIBUR. Now the previously collected plastic is getting a new life.

Spring 2020
We replaced the shampoo, shower gel and lotion packaging with fully recyclable and reusable packaging in 10 AZIMUT hotels.

Autumn 2020
Eco-transformation was expanded by tooth sets, combs, shaving sets, and shoe horns.

Summer 2021
Five other hotels joined the project, in particular in Astrakhan, Uglich, Ufa, Kostroma and Tula.

The hotels in Yakutsk, Pereslavl and Kaspiysk are going to join the project.

All cosmetic guest supplies and packaging in all AZIMUT hotels in Russia have been replaced by more environmentally friendly alternatives.

Since the project launch in 2020, more than 10 tons of plastic waste have been sent for recycling, from which new useful products can be made.

How plastic waste turned into an art object
In June, an art-object "Da Vinci Dome" made of recycled plastic appeared in the lobby of the AZIMUT Hotel Smolenskaya.
Its base is filled empty cosmetic bottles, which AZIMUT Hotels transfers for recycling. The collected plastic waste was also used to make the dome. The sustainable structure of the dome symbolizes the principles of sustainable design.
The art object is a prime example of how the circular economy works. The clean planet is everyone's responsibility, especially when travelling.
The creators of the art object - Andrey Chumakov, Alexey Guskov, Sergey Smirnov, Varvara Cherkasova - are participants of the first school for plastic recycling "SIBUR Circularity". In addition to the art installation, 30 students created a number of household items from recycled plastic.

According to the Russian Government Decree number 1860 "On approval of the Regulations on the classification of hotels" of 18.11.2020, in the bathroom of 3- and 4-star hotels, among which there are also the objects of the AZIMUT Hotels chain, for every guest must be available a toilet soap in branded hotel packaging, a shampoo and a shower gel. For 3-star hotel, it is allowed to have a liquid soap dispenser instead of an individually packed soap. It is one of the main reasons why the chain cannot refuse disposable items in favor of dispensers. Also, the consumer surveys show that in the current epidemiological situation, guests prefer to use hygiene products in individual packaging.
So, as part of the existing requirements, we strive to offer our guests the most sustainable alternative: the packaging of cosmetics is completely recyclable, the bottle caps are made with addition of recycled plastic, the used plastic packaging is collected separately and transferred for recycling. Guests can reuse bottles if they wish, but we recommend leaving them in the hotel - in this case, we can guarantee that the collected plastic will be transferred for recycling to a verified operator and will continue life as new things.

Vivilen totally complies with the requirements of the regulatory document TR TC 005/2011 "On the safety of packaging" and has an expert opinion of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology.
Up to 25% of recycled plastic is used when making bottles in Vivilen packaging.
